A change is coming.
It’s estimated that voice commands will initiate half of all internet searches within two years, and all evidence indicates it may well happen sooner.
What’s noteworthy is that voice searches – and their results – are often very different from their text and keyboard forbears. (Think longer questions and single answers.) Add to that voice search users being trained to value utility over volume.
As voice-activated devices and AI-driven results become more and more commonplace, the manner in which law firms must represent themselves online will have to change. Thankfully, there are steps that can be taken today to equip your business for spoken-word success in the future.
The people have spoken.
There are already roughly 45 million voice-assisted devices operating in the United States alone. With adoption rates growing year over year, consumers of all stripes are beginning to ask for answers, request songs and order products. Can asking for an attorney be far behind?
FindLaw asked legal consumers to gauge their comfort using these devices. More than half (57 percent) indicated a willingness to search for legal services using an Amazon Echo or Google Home. As ownership and trust increases, expect that number to grow, and the market to follow suit.
