Capturing Online Reviews Made Easy By FindLaw
Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart once famously said, “There’s only one boss. The customer.” That maxim is as true for a retail giant like Wal-Mart as it is for any business, big or small, regardless of the industry. And while many small law firms often identify themselves more as lawyers, less so as business people, the reality is that they are indeed running small businesses. As such, customers are their lifeblood. Listening to what customers want – and how they behave when choosing a lawyer – is critical to a law firm’s ongoing success.
So take notice. In a recent FindLaw survey, legal consumers told us overwhelmingly that online reviews were a key, if not necessary, factor in their decision making process:
Were more likely to hire a lawyer with an online review
Have actually used online reviews when selecting a professional service such as a doctor or lawyer
The trend is clear: Lawyers that embrace and proactively work to build their online reviews are poised to reap significant benefits. While those that do not will be left behind. Mark Jacobsen recently blogged about how lawyers can get more reviews. And the secret? Just ask. It sounds so simple, right? The problem, of course, is that in the day-to-day operation of a small law firm, the simplest tasks are often all too easy to forget.
So what’s a lawyer to do?
To help solve that quandary, FindLaw recently introduced an online review platform. This platform helps lawyers easily perform this critical task by embedding a request tool on the firm’s site. Once reviews are posted it tracks how the firm’s online reviews are building over time, alerts attorneys if negative reviews are posted and even helps guide their responses.
We’re so passionate about helping lawyers with this effort that we’ve incorporated the review platform into many of our core integrated marketing packages. But for those lawyers that just need help with building reviews, we now also offer it as a stand-alone solution.
The new reality
Online reviews are here to stay. Customers are demanding it and law firms that ignore “the boss” do so at their own peril. But the good news is that attorneys aren’t helpless. They can take an active role in the process by partnering with FindLaw. Our online review platform makes it easier than ever before.
