FindLaw is No. 1 again. is the leading online provider of legal information, according to recently released data from comScore — a leader in measuring the digital world. FindLaw maintained its number one ranking in 2011 by a healthy margin.

Twice as many visitors came to FindLaw than to its nearest competitor, comScore reports.

The comScore Media Metrix for 2011 are telling.

“The data confirms that FindLaw remains the country’s go-to source for free online legal information,” said Steve Noel, vice president of strategic development and audience at FindLaw. “We’re proud of these results.”

The comScore numbers indicate that:

  • An average of 2.2 million consumers visited each month in 2011, which is double the number of visits for its nearest competitor.
  • Visitors viewed an average of more than 7 million pages of content each month on the site. In comparison, visitors to the closest competitor’s site viewed less than half that number of pages.

FindLaw is particularly pleased with the performance of its Lawyer Directory, Noel said.

“The FindLaw Lawyer Directory is the largest online attorney directory, with more than one million listings that are searchable by name, location and practice,” he said. “It also had 10 percent more visits in 2011 compared to 2010. [These results] illustrate that we are fulfilling our mission of connecting people with attorneys who can meet their legal needs.”

FindLaw’s Lawyer Directory is only one factor in the enduring popularity of, however. Relevant, easy-to-access content also plays a key role. The site includes a wealth of consumer resources, including articles, FAQs and discussion boards.

Rest assured that will continue to improve and increase the information it brings to its visitors. By consistently developing more legal content, it will be gunning to increase its lead in next year’s comScore rankings.
