FindLaw left the legal marketing world for a night on the opera stage last month. In the Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge, our marketing experts built a brand new website for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Upper Midwest Region (MONCAUMR). We were just one of many organizations to donate time and expertise to assist local non-profits in creating websites that they otherwise couldn’t afford.

It was a long but rewarding night. FindLaw’s experts, who knew little about the marketing needs of an opera group, spent the first few hours with MONCAUMR managers to learn as much as they could about their organization. Then they went straight to work giving MONCAUMR a website that effectively communicated the purpose of the organization and provided numerous ways for people to get involved. They incorporated responsive design, performer profiles, social media accounts and more.

In the end, it was more than the MONCAUMR organization could have ever dreamt of. “This site will help us fulfill one of the most important functions of our mission which is to raise the funds to support awards that assist the most capable of our singers to go forward towards fulfilling their dream – to sing at the Metropolitan Opera,” the group said.

The team took essentially nothing and created an online presence that “showed off the beauty, passion, and excitement found in the opera.” And in just 24 hours no less! You can view the new site here. This isn’t the first time FindLaw has helped out a non-profit. Earlier a team built a site for the Walker West Music Academy.

Update: The votes are in and FindLaw made the top six out of 18 teams!
