FirmSites designed by FindLaw had another remarkable year at the Webby Awards, with five firms seeing their sites recognized for excellence by one of the oldest and most prestigious website awards programs. What’s more, one of those FirmSites achieved a milestone by winning Official Nominee status, competing for a Webby alongside much larger and more broadly-targeted legal sites.

The Webbys, founded in 1996, are the “leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.” The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, comprised of web experts, former Webby winners, and other internet luminaries, reviews submissions and recognizes outstanding sites. Sifting through nearly eight thousand website entries this year, the Academy selected Official Nominees in sixty-plus categories, from which both a Webby Award Winner and a People’s Voice Winner were selected for each category.

FindLaw’s consumer web portal FindLaw.com is itself a multiple past Webby winner, being the People’s Choice Winner in 2000 and 2007, an Official Webby Award Winner in 2005, and a nominee on two other occasions.

This year, FindLaw was proud to see the FirmSite of Hartsoe & Associates in Winston-Salem, NC, honored with Official Nominee status in the Law category. It was one of the “final five” in a category consisting mostly of sites generally built to target much larger and broader audiences. Hartsoe & Associates’ FirmSite truly achieved a milestone in receiving this level of recognition.

In addtion to nominations and voting on the top five sites in each category, the Webby Academy awards a fraction of submitted sites “Official Honoree” status, signifying an outstanding caliber of work. Here again FindLaw sites were well-represented, with four FirmSites gaining this recognition:

Webby Award recognition is reserved for sites exhibiting outstanding usability, content and design. The FindLaw team strives to attain these qualities with each FirmSite, and we are thrilled to be recognized this year for our achievements in website design.
