PAGE VIEWS

(Go to "Traffic" on the left side of the page)

The Page Views statistic enables you to measure the popularity of content on your site. It gives you a sum of all of your site views-both page views and reloads. The Page Views statistic measures, in a sense, the consumption of information on your site.

Ideally, the number of page views should be at least double the number of visitors. This shows that the average visitor is going beyond the home page and seeking out information within the site.

If the number of page views is less than double the number of visitors, it may indicate that your home page should be modified to provide more compelling inducements for visitors to browse. Or, depending on your marketing goals, it may show that your home page is doing an effective job of screening out unsuitable prospects.

If page views are increasing over time, it may be attributable to more visitors, more pages viewed per visitor, or both. Whatever the cause, an increase in page views usually means that you are doing things right. If page views are decreasing, examine other statistics to determine the cause and then respond accordingly. You may want to expand the exposure elements of your marketing to increase traffic, or consider adding fresh content to maintain the interest of returning visitors.

Use the Page Views chart along with the Most Requested Pages chart to build on the content that your visitors find most valuable. When viewed over a long period of time (e.g., six months) this statistic will indicate whether or not your content selections are valued by the visitors to your site.

(Note: The Page Views statistic measures only views seen by actual site visitors. The FindLaw.com Traffic Reporting System does not measure views by Internet spiders, robots, and the like.)
